Polarity Therapy is a profoundly life-empowering healing art that is grounded in a uniquely energy-based perspective. It incorporates bodywork as well as listening and counseling skills, and takes into account the effects of nutrition and exercise on the energetic system. Polarity Therapy tends to draw on information from a wide range of sources and is based on the investigations of Dr. Randolph Stone, DO, DC (1890-1981), who made quantum leaps in our understanding of the role of energy in the healing arts. Dr. Stone’s work was groundbreaking in its practical applications of information about the human energy field from ancient and modern sources, drawing primarily on the traditions of yoga and ayurveda From
the perspective of Polarity Therapy, health (or ease) is experienced
when energy flows smoothly without significant blockage. When energy
is blocked or unbalanced due to stress or trauma, the result is often
pain (or dis-ease). In Polarity Therapy, the practitioner seeks to help
the client discover patterns of blockage, stuckness, or over-stimulation
in order to allow normal flowing energetic patterns to re-establish
themselves and to encourage the energy field to remain open and flexible.
This is done through various modes of touch and verbal communication,
often in combination. Touch
in combination with energetic listening and reflection help the client
to begin the journey of making connections between body, emotion, mind,
and spirit that are the basis of energetic awareness. By honoring the
client’s deep intention for healing, the Polarity practitioner
creates a sacred space in order to facilitate the client’s own
inner growth process and connection with life energy.
The results of Polarity Therapy sessions vary widely, but often include a sense of profound relaxation, a balancing of the nervous, digestive, and other internal systems, increased insight into energetic patterns and their implications, creation of new inner resources and ability to meet life challenges, and changes in the experience of challenging physical, emotional, and mental patterns. The effects of Polarity Therapy usually begin with subtle inner movement, and over a period of time can often leads to striking outward changes in the body, mental and emotional outlook, and unfolding of life experiences. for
